Research

Established in 2013, the BCRRG has a variety of research projects under-way. The following projects are supported by an Alberta Innovates Health Solutions-Partnership forResearch & Innovation in the Health System (AIHS-PRHIS) funded grant and in-kind support from the Alberta Health Services-Diabetes Obesity and Nutrition Strategic Clinical Network (AHS-SCN) and the Canadian Obesity Network (CON).

Anticipated Project Timeline

January 2014 - March 2016

Identify pediatric and adult patients with obesity in Alberta's tertiary care facilities and examine the association of severe obesity on functional outcomes, hospital length of stay, and costs of care.

January 2014 - March 2017

Identify adult patients with obesity in post-acute rehabilitation and examine the relationship between severe obesity and length of stay and wait for transfer times.

July 2014 - March 2017

Develop a training program for health care professionals to provide quality care and improve rehabilitation outcomes for patients with severe obesity.
